03/2008      Create a WinXP Auto Updates Disk For Future Reloads of XP

With XP being pulled from the shelves by Microsoft, despite the cry of the public, no one is absolutely sure

what will happen to all those XP user's who want to stay with their proven OS. If you decide to reload

XP a year from now will the updates still be available? No one say for sure what MS will do. Obviously

they don't listen to us. So i decided that I need a way to save all these updates for future use. Since

AutoPatcher was closed down by Microsoft I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Until I found Offline

Update. Offline Update allowed me to download all of XP's patches and save them to DVD for install

at a later date. So go get your copy fast before MS finds out about it.   Offline Update Download

I captured some screens for you during my run of the program.

After you download the program and extract its contents you should see the following dir structure

The you run the UpdateGenerator.exe program to start the update process. Below is the Main Screen

You'll notice that you can even download Office Updates as well!

Then select your OS (Mine was XP), language and check to create an iso.

The program will then enter DOS mode and start the download process.

Let it run its course. Time of course depends on your download speed.

Then it starts to extract all the files.

When it's done you should see the following iso file in the iso dir.

Burn that sucker to DVD ASAP !!!!

And the beauty of the program, a feature I really like, is when you go to apply this

update it will present you with a choice to install or not install IE 7.

Bottom line, Vista is inevitable, I know that. But I am definitely not a MS Beta tester. I don't need the extra

aggravation in my life. Who does? We've all come to know XP inside and out, tweaked it to it's limit, and

just when we get it working the way it should MS goes and pulls the rug. So for now I have to maintain two

PCs, one for real life apps which I can depend on and one for learning, tweaking, finding drivers, and waiting

for patches. So take my advice and download this program and run the updates. Save them for a rainy day,

because there's always a cloud over Microsoft.

Hope this was informative
