How to create an Acronis True Image USB Emergency Recovery Boot Stick

Acronis True Image is my defacto Std for disaster recovery backups at home. I find no other program more flexible or feature rich than Acronis TI. The company stays on top of all the latest trends and responds to their users' requests for new features. Two features I really love is the Bart PE addon that they optionally create for you on install and the option to create a recovery bootable usb stick instead of the recovery bootable CD, both of which are used to initiate an emergency restore of your system.

First off, obviously, you need the Acronis software. Once installed you select the following from the pull down menus.

Then you select the option for "Removable Drive (H): or whatever drive letter your drive was assigned.

Make sure your USB memory stick is installed and newly formatted. FAT32 works best for these situations, but I have used NTFS successfully as well.

That's it! Next time you need to boot up the Acronis Recovery Console you place your usb stick into the system, reboot, make sure your system is set to boot from the usb drive before the SATA drive in the boot order in your BIOS and you are done.  I purchased a 512MB stick just for this very situation. They are so cheap now-a-days.

The BART PE option, as mentioned earlier, is another nice feature. If don't know what I'm talking about then go to http://www.ubcd4win.com  for The Ultimate Boot CD - because it truly is. I've rescued many a systems with this bad boy. Now if they can just get the entire UBCD on a USB Stick I'm set.

Well there you have it. I just wanted to point out to everyone that this feature was available. I'm sure many of you have overlooked it, as I did at first. Pays to experiment at times.
