How to Create an Kapersky AntiVirus Boot CD for Emergencies Free

Here's the scenario that led me to create such a CD. First off let me say that there are not a lot of quality antivirus boot CDs out there nowadays that you can just download, well I couldn't find any. I recently encountered a new virus that presented me with a message box upon boot up that displayed the msg "This pc will shutdown in 60 sec". The keyboard was dead, safe mode as well. My UBCD4Win was ineffective and I was locked out of the machine totally. Sure enough every 60 sec it would reboot. Frustrating! We ended up taking the infected drive out and using another machine to clean the drive. But I could have saved hours if I had had this anit-virus boot CD. So I researched it and found this procedure. Whether it works or not the next time I run into a situation such

as this I don't know,  but at least I'll have another tool in my toolbox to try.  Below is the procedure for creating the cd. took approx 25-30min.

1> Download Kaspersky Home Antivirus trial edition or Launch the Program if you already own it.

2> Download BART PE version 3.13 or higher only

3> Install both - Use the default install directory.

4> Next you'll need your Windows XP Install CD.

5> When you launch Kapersky select "Create Rescue CD"

6> Here's the next screen you see.

7> Hit next and you'll see the screen below:

8> Select the PE Builder directory that you installed Bart PE to and the output for the iso image. You also need to point to your Windows XP CD.

9> Once you click next you will see the program start to compile the software needed to build your iso.

10> Once it is finished compiling you can now save your iso to any dir you wish.

11>It also presents the option to burn the cd right now if you wish. I chose to burn now.

12> When complete you will see the following screen. You now have a high quality rescue cd.

Now you have a quality commercial antivirus CD that you can use to scan an infected pc that prevents windows from booting. Periodically you'll have to update the definitions files of course, if you intend to keep this CD up to date. That would of course mean that you would either have to purchase the program or install the trial edition onto a new pc every time.

Good luck.
